PRE-PRIMARY

ACADEMICS

The cornerstone of a learner’s scholastic career is their elementary years and so our curriculum has been meticulously built up to extend learners, helping them to reach their full potential.

Our curriculum is CAPS aligned, amalgamated with additional literary programmes such as Time 2 Read and Letterland.

In preparation for IEB benchmarking in their later years at Abbotsford Christian school, we develop critical thinking through our teaching practises and child-centered learning strategies.

Our small classroom environment helps to foster confidence in the learner’s individual ability as they start their academic journey.

We endeavour to produce holistic, well-rounded learners and have an affiliation with a number of extra-curricular programmes that take place during the school day. These programmes consist of Play Ball, Swimming, Clay Art, Dancing, Little Actors  and Music appreciation with Legends.

play and discovery

Learn and play” activities for our pre-primary learners take place both in and outdoors, and offer benefits for physical health, cognitive development, and social-emotional growth.

Physically, children develop gross and fine motor skills like running, climbing, building, as well as drawing  and writing.

They benefit from fresh air and Vitamin D from sunlight when outdoors. Cognitively, play boosts creativity, problem-solving, and focus through hands-on exploration of natural and other materials in their environments.

Socially and emotionally, children learn cooperation, sharing, and emotional resilience while building confidence and a sense of responsibility toward nature, their classroom spaces and the people they interact with.

Praise and Worship

At Abbotsford Christian School, we believe in nurturing the whole child — academically, physically, and spiritually.

Our Pre-Primary learners participate joyfully in times of praise and worship, where they learn to express gratitude and reverence to God through song and movement.

Corporate worship not only strengthens their individual faith but also fosters a sense of community, unity, and shared purpose amongst our learners as they grow together in God’s love.

Note from Head of Department

Mrs Sharon de Klerk

Abbotsford Christian School’s Pre-primary is a learning space filled with fun, laughter and love.

We are responsible for experiences aimed at teaching and developing the foundational skills needed for our learners to succeed at school and beyond and also to impact society. We implement a daily programme that incorporates opportunities for the inclusion and integration of biblical truth and teaching.

We aim to develop and encourage growth in areas such as Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills. Private extra mural activities such as Little Actors, Playball, Swimming, Ballet and Clay Art, are offered.

Our Pre-primary comprises of one class each, for Grades RRR and RR, and two classes for Grade R.

We pride ourselves in meaningful education with good attention to detail for each learner as we strive to offer a programme which meets individual and group needs. We as staff are honoured to be working at a school such as this, where each learner is valued as a unique and precious gift from God.

With our eyes on Jesus, we undertake a partnership together with parents to prayerfully guide, educate and equip our learners. Should you share similar values and ideals, we would love to welcome you to our ACS family, and allow your child to be part of our amazing school.
