FOUNDATION PHASE

Our Teaching Approach

In the Foundation Phase, teaching and learning are rooted in Christ-like values. We believe that children learn best in an environment where they feel loved, respected, and secure. Through Christ-centred lessons, we guide learners to develop kindness, honesty, self-discipline, and respect for others.

Learning in the Foundation Phase is active and meaningful. We use age-appropriate, CAPS-aligned teaching methods that encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Lessons are presented in a nurturing and structured way, helping learners grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

By modelling Christ-like behaviour and values in our daily interactions, we aim to shape confident, caring learners who treat others with compassion and strive to do their best in all that they do.

Subjects Taught

The Foundation Phase curriculum is designed to develop strong academic foundations while supporting the social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each child. The following subjects are taught:

  • Afrikaans
  • IsiXhosa
  • Numeracy
  • Life Skills (Physical
  • Education, Art, Drama
  • Robotics
  • Bible
  • Media

OUR Facilities

Our school offers welcoming classrooms with no more than 25 learners per class, ensuring individual attention and meaningful teacher–learner interaction. Learners enjoy a beautiful, safe playground that encourages active play and social development.

We also have a dedicated Media Centre, equipped with computers and robotics resources, where learners are introduced to age-appropriate technology skills and problem-solving in a structured and engaging way.

The Foundation Phase is a fun and happy place where children come to learn and grow. Each new day offers its own unique experiences that are important in a child’s academic and social development. It is in this safe environment that vital building blocks are learnt that will serve as an important support for many years to come.
